Magazine adverts for digipacks.

There is a close up shot of the artist, this represents the band and how he is a key element to selling the music, the focus on him appeals to a wider audience/fan base. Particularly women because he has a certain sex appeal, however the boyish style of the poster shows that it can appeal to both sex's, i think that this type of music would appeal to a younger generation because of the rebellious image the band portrays. The image looks as though it has been taken at a live gig, its a unposed and natural shot of him, however it has been taken so that the artificial lighting reflects off of him, drawing our attention to the artist. The use of mise-en-scene reflects the genre of this band, his dark clothing and makeup are things we would associate with a rock genre. The only prop we see in this image is the microphone, this is highly redundant of this genre and this also tells us he is the lead singer.

The magazine has dark colours as well as elements of red, these are colours  are what we would associate with the genre of music as well as the band. The white fonts against the background connotes the rock and roll, rebellious feel. The 'Green Day' font is their brand identity, we know who the band is when we see the font. The layout of the advert isn't particularly interesting, its very crowded, but it is very informative so its good in a way that you know what your buying. It is entropic in the sense that its not a stereotypical advert, we usually see an image of the whole band and very little information and this is the complete opposite of that. But it is redundant of this particular band because they are alternative and different.

The details on the packaging itself contain links to the bands website and make poverty history, the release date and information on what you get when you purchase the album.

Straight away we are drawn to the mid shot of the artist, the artist is shown on the advert which is key to draw in the audience, because the artist is a female mainstream artist I think this advert would appeal more to a young female audience. The shot is in black and white, this seems to be a theme throughout the artists singles and album. Some elements of the mis-en-scene are quite redundant for example her look and props, like the bird she is wearing is quite redundant of her to have a dramatic and different style.

The white block fonts stand out against the grey background which catches your eye and draws you in to the poster, we wouldn't expect this from a pop genre. Its challenging what we usually would expect from the artist and the genre of music making it entropic. The layout itself is very basic but very informative, again not something you would expect of this genre.

The poster is very detailed, it has a lot of links to lady gaga related sights e.g. social networking. Producers, photographers and who wrote the music. This poster is very likely to appeal to the artists fans because it is so informative and it might be of interest to someone who idolises her.

What i notice straight away is that there are no elements of photography
the band, this isn't that surprising as in comparison to other alternative rock bands e.g. The Killers. Who aren't always on the front cover. The look of the poster would appeal to a younger generation audience but perhaps because its an older generation band the music would appeal to an older audience.

There is  variety of fonts on the poster making it look more interesting, incorporating the orange in the font is a clever and unique idea which will attract people to look at it. The "re-mastered, re-packaged, re-discovered" is in red, white and blue, this links to the fact they are an english band.

The poster is detailed and the information is laid out like a movie poster, it has star ratings from NME and Mojo, is available at itunes and links to their website. This information will persuade the audience to buy this album, these
features are quite redundant as its persuading you.
